3D printing technology fits right in with modern demands by offering instant results for the user. Even though the population has access to purchase many options of goods over various channels such as over the Internet and by mail, these 3D printer can develop and make a tangible object on command. Instant results! This may be an important factor for some because of the rapid pace lifestyles that most live by now-a-days. When I was a printer technician for HPItechnologies, many printer units would be down for the days that I would have to wait for parts from an external resources, and sometimes I may not even find some small plastic parts such as sensors and gears to fix the machines. This down time is crucial for some businesses because they have routine daily operations. If I had 3D printer technology at that time, I could make the parts that day even at their location for repairs. Many printer manufactures may not even make the part or there may not be any aftermarket parts so the capabilities to make these specialized parts for printers has much value also because if I couldn't get the parts, the machines would be worthless and garbage. The fixing of the custom made parts can optimize the machines and be reconditioned. Interesting thought here. I heard that 3D printers technology can actually command a 3D printer to replicate itself. In other words, a printer can make all the components and parts that make the 3D printer function. http://inhabitat.com/worlds-first-self-replicating-3d-printer-assembles-in-just-30-minutes/

Interesting points Roman about when a regular printer breaks and the 'wait time' for replacement. What happens if the 3D printer breaks and you need parts? Unless you have two 3D printers on location-aren't you back to same situation? However, I am so looking forward to when 3D printers become a fixed piece in schools.
